Boston Ski & Sports Club has long been known for the amazing connections it makes between members who ski, play sports or party together. But in an era where corporate culture and work/life balance is more important than ever for competitive recruiting, BSSC has seen a trend towards many cutting edge Boston area startups and tech companies reaping major benefits on and off the field and slopes with BSSC recreational sports leagues and ski trips.

Google, Wayfair, Propel Marketing, LogMeIn and Tank Design are just a few of the Boston-area companies that are playing and skiing with BSSC.

Sunday River“The BSSC ski trip we took last year is the new favorite event,” says David Wells of Tank Design, which added it to the roster of social events like annual Halloween and Christmas parties, F1 Racing and Red Sox games. “People are already asking when we’re going to do it again.”

The Tank Design ski trip to Loon Mountain came about last winter when they discovered through water cooler conversation that a large number of the 50-person Boston office were avid skiers. The idea to ski together came to fruition, David says, with just a couple of quick phone calls and emails.

“It was awesome,” says David. “It’s an affordable option and we’ve already scheduled a duplicate trip for this winter.”

Tank Design’s private ski trip through BSSC bussed 35 people up to Loon Mountain and provided ski lessons and equipment, plus a catered lunch at Deli with a beautiful view of the mountain. Most importantly, everything about the trip was taken care of when the team arrived.

But it’s not just ski trips that have local companies buzzing. The ritual

Rio 2016 is upon us! What’s all the excitement about? Well, this is the first time in history that a South American Country has hosted the Olympics. There are also two newly added sports to this year’s Olympics: rugby and golf. Golf is making an epic return for the first time in 112 years! It will definitely be one for the books. BSSC would like to inform all our sports fanatics to tune into the opening ceremony. On August 5, at 7:30 PM ET the games of the XXXI Olympiad will commence in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Boston's Best

The 2016 games features over ten thousand athletes competing in 28 Olympic Sports ranging from team sports like soccer and rugby to individual sports like fencing and golf. However, everyone is competing for one goal: to bring pride to themselves and their countries. Boston Ski & Sports Club would like to recognize those Olympic athletes born and raised in the Greater Boston area fighting for Team USA. Below we have listed statistics, interesting facts, and when to tune in to support each of the seven Boston athletes competing this year.

Eli Dershwitz is one of seven competing U.S. athletes we believe to be on this year’s top watch list. Eli will be participating in his first ever Olympic Games! With 50,000+ people in the Greater Boston area skiing and playing sports with BSSC annually, and nearly 50 years in business, we've seen our fair share of weddings! That being said, we’re super excited to welcome our newest engaged couple, Alexa Mislitski and Ryan Poulin!

Meet Alexa, Age - 27; Hails from Carlisle, Pennsylvania
Alexa:  I moved to Boston in 2011 to pursue law school & to be close to my only sister, Kristen. She immediately convinced me to join BSSC with her so we could continue playing soccer and meet new people. We joined as two solo players and got stuck on a team with all guys, which was named “Between the Legs” (the co-captains happened to live a few doors down from me so we hitched rides to games with them---very ironic!).

Meet Ryan, Age - 29; Hails from Hampstead, New Hampshire
Ryan: A friend of mine started a coed team and asked if I wanted in... This was back in 2012, I believe. It was outdoor in Newton and our team was good, so we kept it going with indoor. However, 2 of our 3 girls left last minute so we asked BSSC if they could help. Game 1, Alexa and her sister show up.

The coin toss...
Alexa: I showed up to the first game and was introduced to many single guys, Ryan being one of them. I had a boyfriend at the time and wasn’t super i
