This is a list of ALL fields that have been used for BSSC Kickball. Click your field for directions & field information:

 

 

 

 

 

Albemarle Field

251 Albemarle Road, Newton 02460

 

Public Transportation:

  • Green Line to Woodland. Woodland is on Route 16 so just follow the directions below from Route 16, but it is a bit of a walk (2 miles or so).

From Boston or Mass Pike:

  • Take Mass Pike West to exit 17 (Newton).
  • Follow Washington Street for approximately 1/2 mile to Walnut Street.
  • Go right at the light.
  • Follow 1/4 mile to Watertown Street.
  • Go left at the light.
  • Follow 1/4 mile to Albemarle Road and go right (Horace Mann School).
  • Field is on the right after the pool and baseball field.

 

From Route 128:

  • Route 128 to exit 21B (if going north) OR exit 22 (if going south) onto Route 16 East.
  • Follow Route 16 East to West Newton Square (approximately 2 miles).
  • At fork in road, bear left onto Watertown Street.
  • Go 1/2 mile down and on left is Albemarle Road. 
  • Take left on Albemarle.
  • Field is the right after the pool and baseball field.

 

 

 

Arsenal Park

  • Arsenal Park is located right behind the Arsenal Mall, toward the Marshall's end of the mall.

From Storrow Drive:

  • Follow towards Newton.  TV 4 on your left.  Look for the Brighton Center/Watertown exit.
  • Get off Brighton Center/Watertown exit and turn right onto Arsenal Street.
  • Go through two sets of traffic lights.
  • At the third set of traffic lights, turn left into the Arsenal Mall (main entrance).
  • At Marshall's, turn right.
  • At the end of the building turn left.
  • Enter Arsenal Park and field will be directly ahead.
  • Park in field lot.

 

From Route 93:

  • Follow directions above from Storrow Drive.

 

From Route 128:

  • Get on Mass Pike to Cambridge/Allston exit.  Follow the Brighton sign.
  • At 3rd set of lights take a right onto Lincoln Street.  Follow to end.
  • At lights (Hogan's Run Pub on corner) take right onto Birmingham Parkway.
  • At second set of lights, turn left onto Arsenal Street.
  • Park in field lot.

 

 

 

Bigelow School/Burr Playground

  • Grass field.
  • Best access is via Waverley Avenue & Arlington Streets.

 

Parking Tips:

  • Some street parking on the surrounding streets of Waverley, Arlington, Park, Vernon & Tremont. 
  • Small parking lot at the school that is accessible from Park Street.

From Mass Pike:

  • Exit 17 Newton Corner:
    • If you're coming Westbound, cross the Pike around the hotel pass Centre Street and bear Right onto Washington Street.  
    • If you're coming Eastbound, after the exit ramp, pass Centre Street and bear Right onto Washington Street.
  • Once on Washington Street, take a right onto Waverley and go up the hill.

Brandeis University

Brandeis Commuter Rail Parking Lot

 

  • Club Sports Grass Field (located behind the turf field towards the commuter rail stop).
  • Please pick up your trash...tape, water bottles, etc.

 

Parking Tips:

  • Commuter Rail parking lot on corner of South Street & Sawyer Road.
  • Along Old South Road.

 

Public Transportation:

  • There is a Commuter Rail stop at Brandeis.

From Mass Pike West

  • From I-90 W take exit 15 for I-95/MA-128 toward MA-30/Weston/Waltham.
  • Keep left at the fork to continue toward Park Road. 
  • Turn right on Park Road.
  • Turn right at MA-30 E/Commonwealth Avenue/South Avenue. 
  • Turn left at River Road/South Street.   

 

From Mass Pike East

  • Follow I-90 E toward Boston.
  • Take exit 14 for I-95 N toward N.H - Maine.
  • Take exit 24 for State Route 30 toward Newton/Wayland.
  • Turn left at MA-30 W/Commonwealth Avenue/South Avenue.
  • Take the 1st right onto River Road/South Street.

 

Bunker Hill Community College
250 Rutherford Avenue, Charlestown 02129

 

  • Athletic fields are located on the Upper Field on the North Side of the school.
  • There is a baseball field (closest to the parking lot) & softball field (farthest field north from school). 
  • Kickball utilizes up to 8 small fields in this large field.

 

Parking Tips:

  • Please observe all parking signs. 
  • BSSC participants are only allowed to park in Lots 1, 2 & 5. 
  • Do not park on the grass.

 

Public Transportation:

  • Take the MBTA Orange Line to Community College Station.  This drops you at the South end of campus.  The fields are at the other end of the school.

From Route 93 South:

  • Take Sullivan Square/Rutherford Avenue exit (just after carpool lane - so do not take carpool lane).
  • Take next ramp on left marked Boston via Sullivan Square and follow to lights (Sullivan Square overpass is now closed).
  • Before getting to lights, move into middle lane, go thru lights bearing right (follow detour signs), Hood Milk will be ahead on the right.
  • Pass one street on the right.
  • Entrance to BHCC is in the middle of the next block.
  • Upper Field will be on your right, Lower field is behind the school.

From Route 93 North:

  • Take exit 28 (new exit).
  • Make a right at end of ramp (follow signs to Route 99) and then take first right at first light.
  • Immediately bear right, you never really get on the rotary, follow this, passing Hood Milk on the right.
  • Pass one street on the right.
  • Entrance to BHCC is in the middle of the next block.
  • Upper Field will be on your right, Lower field is behind the school.

From Memorial Drive:

  • Follow Memorial Drive East to exit marked Expressway N&S/Charlestown.
  • Continue on this road through underpass to Cambridge Parkway beyond Royal Sonesta Hotel.
  • Go across major intersection and over Gilmore (Prison Point) Bridge.
  • Make right at lights and right into Sand & Gravel Company.
  • Make right at stop sign and follow road around college.
  • Lower Field is on your right, the rest are ahead on the left.

From Storrow Drive:

  • Follow Storrow Drive East almost to the end, and exit left following signs for McGrath O'Brien Highway, and follow past Museum of Science.
  • At 2nd set of lights turn right onto Gilmore (Prison Point) Bridge.
  • Go over bridge, and make right at lights and right into Sand & Gravel Company.
  • Make right at stop sign and follow road around college.
  • Lower Field is on your right, the rest are ahead on the left.

Columbus/Moakley Park

  • Grass fields.

 

Public Transportation:

  • Take the MBTA Red Line to JFK Library stop.

Parking Tips:

  • Park car in any valid spot near Carson Beach on William J Day Boulevard.
  • Games are played at the grass fields at the park across the street from the beach.
     

From the North:

  • Route 93 South to exit 15 (JFK Library/UMass Boston/Columbia Road).
  • Keep left at the fork, follow signs for S Boston/Castle Island. 
  • At bottom of ramp turn left onto Columbia Road.
  • At rotary, take 2nd right toward William J Day Boulevard, pass Moakley Stadium on your left then ahead Carson Beach on your right.

From the South:

  • Route 93 North to exit 15 for Columbia Road/Edward Everett Square. 
  • Turn right at bottom of ramp onto Columbia Road.
  • At rotary, take 2nd right toward William J Day Boulevard, pass Moakley Stadium on your left then ahead Carson Beach on your right.

From the West:

  • Mass Pike east to Route 93 South.

Danehy Park

From Boston:
Take Memorial Drive to Fresh Pond Parkway heading West towards Rt. 2. At the small rotary you will see Sozio Appliance store directly ahead. Go into the rotary and immediately after Sozio, take a soft right onto New St. (not Bay State Rd). Go approximately ¼ mile and you will see the Park and a parking lot.

 

From Route 128/Route 2:
From 128 North and South, take Rt. 2 East(Cambridge/Boston) to Alewife Parkway. Pass Alewife T station and continue through the rotary at the Ground Round towards Boston. At the next rotary, reverse your direction and just after the Sozio appliance store, take a soft right onto New St. (not Bay State St.). Go approximately ¼ mile and you will see the Park and a parking lot.

 

Where to go once at Park:
Once at Danehy, from the parking lot...Softball fields are on top of the hill beyond the lighted soccer field. SB field 2 is in the middle and is the largest field.

 

 

 

 

Harvard University

 Cumnock Fields 1, 2

  • Only water is allowed on these fields.
  • No gum, sports drinks or food allowed on fields.
  • Metal cleats are not allowed.
  • Turf shoes or sneakers are recommended (rubber cleats are ok for Cumnock)
  • Please pick up your trash...tape, water bottles, everything!

 

Which Field Is Which?

  • Soldiers Field Stadium (formerly known to as New Turf):  new athletic field with lights.  On Google Maps (click link above) it's labeled "Soldiers Field Athletic Area" and is just beyond left field of O'Donnell baseball field.
  • Cumnock 1 & 2: lighted synthetic grass fields. They are side by side:
    • Field 1 is the first one you come to (closest to Jordan).
    • Field 2 is farthest to the left and is closer to the River.
  • Cumnock 5: does NOT have lights.  On Google Maps it is on the right behind Jordan field.


Parking Tips:

  • Option 1:
    • Harvard provides limited free parking and an abundance of metered parking spots on non-sporting event days. 
    • If there is a sporting event at the Stadium, parking is $10.  If this is the case, there is street parking on both North Harvard, as well as Western Avenue.
  • Option 2:
    • Enter facility at main gate.
    • After entering from North Harvard Street, Harvard Stadium will be on your right.
    • Follow road around Stadium and bear left behind the stadium, passing Gordon Indoor Track & Tennis facility on your right & the baseball field on your left.
    • Follow road to the right at back of this facilty and park in any open legal spot. 
    • If they are full, go back and park in any open spots you may have passed.
    • You can also continue and pass Jordan field and park along the fence between Jordan & Soldier's Field Road.
       

Once Parked, Where Do I Go?

  • Soldiers Field Stadium (New Turf) you are there.
  • Cumnock Fields:
    • Continue down the road you were driving until you pass the outdoor tennis courts on your left.
    • Walk up the path to the right of the outdoor tennis courts.
    • You will walk between tennis courts (on your left) and Jordan Field (fenced-in old style turf used for field hockey) on your right.
    • When you emerge the Cumnock synthetic grass fields will be in front of you and to your left.

Donnelly Field

Parking Tips:

  • YOU MUST PARK behind St. Anthony's Church (380 Cardinal Medeiros Avenue, Cambridge).

 

 

Public Transportation:

  • Bus 85 Kendall/MIT via Union Square.
  • Bus stops at Windsor Street/Lincoln Street.
  • Continue down Lincoln Street to Willow Street (should see Field in front of you).

From Route 93:

  • Take Route 93 until you reach the exit for Storrow Drive.
  • After the exit, instead of going straight onto Storrow Drive, take a right towards the Museum of Science.
  • Follow the bridge across the river, putting the Museum of Science on your left.
  • At the light at the end of this bridge, go straight across onto Cambridge Street.
  • Once on Cambridge Street, you will come to a fork in the road. Bear left, putting the Lechmere T station on your right.
  • Continue straight on Cambridge Street until you see the Harrington Elementary School on your left hand side.
  • After the Harrington, make a left onto Willow Street.
  • Donnelly Field will be on your lefthand side behind the Frisoli Youth Center.

From Memorial Drive East:

  • Take Memorial Drive towards the Museum of Science.
  • After you pass the CambridgeSide Galleria, get in the left hand lane.
  • Take a left onto Cambridge Street.
  • Once on Cambridge Street, you will come to a fork in the road. Bear left, putting the Lechmere T station on your right.
  • Continue straight on Cambridge Street until you see the Harrington Elementary School on your lefthand side.
  • After the Harrington, make a left onto Willow Street.
  • Donnelly Field will be on your left hand side behind the Frisoli Youth Center.

Evans Field

From the Mass Pike:

  • Take Pike East to exit 25 for South Boston
  • At top of ramp, follow signs for Haul Rd
  • Take a right onto Pumphouse Rd

  • Left on Summer St

  • Left on East 1st St

  • East 1st street ends take right on Farragut Rd The field is on your left behind Little League FieldYou can park on Farragut or continue and take a left on Broadway to William J. Day Blvd. and take a left. Parking available on William J Day Blvd or take a left on Shore Rd and park along that street.

  • Field is between Farragut, William J Day & Shore Rd. next to Murphy Skating Rink

From the North:

  • Take 93 South to exit 15 (Columbia Road/South Boston).  
  • At bottom of ramp, take left at lights.
  • Follow signs for South Boston, follow onto rotary, exit Rotary following signs for South Boston/Castle Island.
  • Follow rod (approximately 2 miles) until you come to Pleasure Bay.
  • Field will be on your left right next to a skating rink

 

From the South:

  • Take 93 North to exit 14 (Morrissey Boulevard/JFK). 
  • Follow Morrissey Boulevard and Bayside Expo, follow to South Boston/Day Boulevard/Castle Island.
  • Follow road 2 miles until you come to Pleasure Bay.
  • Field will be on your left right next to a skating rink.
